Can you connect to online WiFi in pokemon diamond using a wireless router?

i have a cisco linksys and it connects in legend of zelda phantom hourgl but i cant find out how and were to go to connect using pokemon diamond.....also how do you get friends on your palpad thing. do you have to use a wire connector and add them as a friend and, then you csn connect to them wirelessly
