Blended Whisky & Single Malt TASTE DIFFERENCE?

The flavor in blended scotch comes from a variety of single malts. But the overall impression is milder because the malts are diluted with grain whisky, which is less flavorful. There are also much more strongly flavored single malts than Glenlivet and Glenfiddich. Some of the Islay whiskies, notably Laphroaig, Ardbeg, and Lagavulin, taste (and smell) strongly of peat smoke. Other scotches, Glenmorangie for example, can be subtle but very complex. The real joy of single malt whisky is the tremendous variety of flavors to be had.
